IMPORTANT NOTE: GiambyNetGrabber (short gng) originally was created for
being a shareware program, now I have decided to stop developing this project.
The program is not yet very stable neither bug free, SOURCES are my GIFT to
Amiga Community in the hope that someone restarts debugging/developing this program.
Introduction
------------
GiambyNetGrabber is a freeware program which allows to recursively
download, update and manage files from the internet.
I decided to create this program when I noticed the huge limitations
which web browsers have in some tasks, such as link handling or the slow
and not so smart download process.
But what mostly induced me to create this program was the observation
that, actually, there's no web-mirroring tool on Amiga offering a
graphical interface and other useful options.
While developing it I also realized that GiambyNetGrabber is, maybe, the
ideal complement of a web browser while browsing the web: it allows the
rationalization of online times, making the simultaneous update of daily
visited pages possible, as well as resuming interrupted downloads
through the use of the HTTP/1.1 protocol.
Here is a summary of the main program features:
- MUI interface;
- Drag & Drop;
- AppWindow;
- Context sensitive online help;
- Customizable images;
- Multiple processes, totally asynchronous;
- More than 40 recognized and configurable HTML tags;
- Internal support for filenames longer than 30 characters or containing
characters not supported by the filesystem.
Supported protocols:
- HTTP/1.1
- high speed
- restricted download
- interrupted download resuming
